Bahrain civil aviation authority (CAA) has posted a 12 percent increase in passenger traffic for the first quarter of 2012.
Total passengers entering Bahrain during this period equated to more than two million people.
Regional civil unrest last year caused a decline in visitors to the Persian Gulf island.
Overall passenger numbers dropped by 12 percent in 2011 resulting in ¡°reduced business activity due to the effects of the Arab Spring throughout the region and a reduction in routes served,¡± the CAA said, according to Bloomberg.
After a 13 percent fall in cargo volume, figures for the first quarter of 2012 have risen 5 percent to 91,799 tons.Small-scale protests still persist in regional areas, sometimes entering the capital, Manama.
