The last five years have seen The Luxe Manor establish itself as Asia’s premier surrealist-inspired hotel. The same period has seen the property’s popular Dada Bar + Lounge (Dada) become local music lovers’ major hangout of choice. Starting from 2 June 2012, Saturday, Dada will further underline its status in this area by hosting a monthly special concert on the opening weekend of each month. The first one for June will be Eugene and the POWz Magical Classic Rock Concert. In celebrating the launch, Dada have secured yet another musical coup by persuading local guitar legend, Eugene Pao to treat his many fans to a rare glimpse of his rockier side.

Kicking out the jams on the Dada stage from 10pm to 12am on the first Saturday of each month, the new Eugene and the POWz Magical Classic Rock Concert showcases will cost a minimum charge of HK$150 per guest. Offering a unique opportunity to see luminaries such as Eugene Pao up close and personal, they are also sure to be a magnet for every music aficionado. With Dada’s promise that they are now busily lining up still more great shows, 2012 is shaping up to have a great second half.

Meet Eugene Pao, Hong Kong’s first global musical megastar!
Having graced local, regional and global stages and recording studios with his consummate artistry since the mid-1980s, Eugene Pao needs almost no introduction. Over the years, it is virtual “Who’s Who” of International Jazz that many musical legends who have sought him out to enrich their stage shows and CDs. In addition to chart-topping artists such as Chick Corea and Herbie Hancock, the very lengthy list includes multiple Grammy Award-winning sidemen, Jack de Johnette, and Michael Brecker.

Perfectly complimenting Eugene’s edgier rock guitar licks with their powerhouse backing at Dada will be a group of leading local players who are all band leaders in their own right. Included among the line ups are guitarist and vocalist, Adrian Da Silva, Australian lead vocalist, Pete Moore, Japanese bass maestro, Koya Hisakazu and drummer Ferdie Ramos.

Eugene and his bandmates have promised to deliver a set full of the classic rock anthems that first inspired them to pick up their instruments and play. In addition to songs from British rock behemoths like Led Zeppelin and the Who, the show is likely to include instantly recognizable classics from Thin Lizzy, Free and the Police.
