120 vessels and 50 dry berths in Thailand¡¯s Mediterranean-style yachting and cruising hub, Royal Phuket Marina contributed to the region¡¯s record-breaking visitors during the past high-season.

Over December and January 2011/12 the region reported for the first time it filled capacity, a record the region¡¯s developer Gulu Lalyani said was due to its fast growing popularity amongst international boating communities.

Held over the same period and contributing to the increase was the 2011 Phuket King¡¯s Cup Regatta welcomed up to 53 percent Asian resident sailors as well as 47 percent from foreign regions,

More than half of the visitors over December and January were newcomers to the region and also new to sailing sector.

Royal Phuket Marina is expecting to see numbers maintain record breaking levels over the first half of 2012 as its welcomed the Phuket International Boat Show in March and April this year.
