Targeting growing traffic between China and the US, Delta Airways has announced an expanded codeshare agreement with both China Eastern and China Southern Airlines.

Approved by the Civil Aviation Administration of China, the partnership will allow both the Chinese carriers and the American airline to code share on flights between China and the US.

The two Chinese carriers will put their codes on flights number on Delta flights between Seattle and Beijing while China Eastern has received approval to place its code and flight numbers on Delta flights between Detroit and Beijing.

China Eastern will also codeshare on Delta flights between Detroit and Shanghai while Delta will put its information on China Eastern flights between New York and Los Angeles to Shanghai.

"We thank the Civil Aviation Administration of China for approving our expanded partnership with China Eastern and China Southern, which provides significant new options for customers of all three carriers and will enhance travel and trade between our nations," Delta Asia Pacific senior vice president Vinay Dube said.

In total China Eastern and China said they will provide codeshare services to up to 34 cities in the US and China while Delta and China Southern will code share on 18 US cities between the two countries.
