Thursday, 23 February 2012

On behalf of Star Cruises, Mr Naresh Rawal (right), Vice President, Sales, Star Cruises, accepts the Travel + Leisure India & South Asia India’s Best Award - Best Cruise award in New Delhi, India from Ms Payal Kohli, Editor in Chief, Travel + Leisure, India and South Asia.

Star Cruises is delighted to announce that the company was voted by thousands of holidaymakers and travel industry practitioners as the “Best Cruise” in Travel + Leisure India & South Asia’s inaugural “India’s Best Awards”.

Travel + Leisure India & South Asia is the South Asian edition of the leading international travel and lifestyle magazine Travel + Leisure. Star Cruises is the only winner in the Best Cruise category, unmistakably reflecting the company’s commitment and excellence in creating world-class cruise holiday experience that excites, entertains and pampers passengers from India and beyond.

Out of Star Cruises’ four cruise vessels currently serving the Asia-Pacific market, Indian passengers are particularly fond of the Singapore-homeported SuperStar Virgo and the Penang-homeported SuperStar Libra. SuperStar Virgo has recently undergone a US$25 million refurbishment, further enhancing her cabins and onboard facilities to welcome Indian as well as regional and international guests.

“We’re delighted to be named Best Cruise in the Travel + Leisure India & South Asia awards,” said Mr Michael Goh, Senior Vice President, Sales, Star Cruises. “Among other things, this accolade tells us very clearly that Star Cruises holds a special place in the hearts of Indian holidaymakers.”

He continued, “This is a great encouragement that proves we know intimately what Indian passengers look for their holiday, including preferences in food, world-class entertainment and exotic destinations.”

He added that Star Cruises has been tracking an increasing number of Indian passengers.  From 2008 to 2011, the number of Indian passengers on Star Cruises’ fleet increased more than 35 per cent.

Thousands of Travel + Leisure India & South Asia’s readers picked 29 winners from several dozens of contenders, all vying for glories in a number of categories, including the best hotels, resorts, spas, airlines, airports, cruise, luxury train, travel companies, emerging destination and honeymoon destination.

A well-attended presentation csremony and dinner were held at ITC Maurya, New Delhi, last Friday.
