Eighteen Palestinians have been taken into custody after throwing rocks at visiting tourists in the Jerusalem Al-Aqsa mosque complex.

According to witness and local resident Nasser Kos, the Palestinians spotted religious Jews and began hurtling rocks at police.

Police then used tear gas to disperse the Palestinians, none of whom was hurt, Mr Kos said.
“Stones were thrown at tourists and police officers.

“We have made 18 arrests in all of people suspected of involvement,” police spokesman, Micky Rosenfeld said.

A week prior to the attack a protest was staged by Palestinians, when a group of Jewish nationalist hardliners were denied access to the mosque by police.
