About 1,000 Meals A Day At The Singapore Airshow 2012 By Orchard Hotel

It is far from the premier tourist precinct of Orchard Road but serving defence experts, visiting cabinet ministers and blue-blood royalty at the Singapore Airshow 2012 at Changi still means bringing a bit of uptown chic to the balmy East coast.

Orchard Hotel has put together a special Food and Beverage (F&B) team to operate a 140-seater restaurant serving International Buffet and High Tea, and a Quick Serve Deli at the Airshow, serving nearly 1,000 meals a day. This means that visitors to the Singapore Airshow 2012 can expect first
class service from a top rated hotel even in the remote part of eastern Singapore where the Airshow is held.

The VIP visitors will enjoy hotel-like F&B settings in air- conditioned comfort in the two special dining areas outfitted by Orchard Hotel. The hotel also services nine booths at the Airshow venue.

The area serving buffet and high tea allows guests to sit down and discuss business deals or to relax while they eat. The other is a “Quick Serve” Deli aimed at the ultra busy VIP visitors.

Orchard Hotel expects to serve up about 5,000 meals at the Singapore Airshow 2012 at Changi which is on now till 19 February, said Orchard Hotel’s General Manager, Mr Andrew Tan.

“We are very busy but excited to be part of this year’s ingapore Airshow. Being involved in such mega events taps into our strength in outdoor catering. It helps us stay on top of our game as we provide this F&B service for the Ministry of Defence and Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore,” he said.

VIPs include foreign defence ministers as well as royalties from different parts of the world.

Orchard Hotel has experience in such high pressure, high profile settings. Besides being a major caterer at the Airshow, Orchard Hotel has been nominated for Outstanding Caterer of the Year in the Awards of Excellence 2012, and is also in the running for Best Asian Cuisine Restaurant of the Year, Asian Cuisine Chef of the Year and Restaurant Manager of the Year in the Awards of Excellence 2012.

“The Singapore Airshow is also a good platform for Singaporeans to experience Orchard@YourPlace,
which is Orchard Hotel’s catering service,” Mr Tan said.
