World¡¯s most anticipated photo exhibition returns to Malaysian shores

The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (the Centre), Malaysia¡¯s premier convention facility, played host to the World Press Photo 11 Exhibition (WPP 11) for the second consecutive year.? The Centre was the exhibition¡¯s first stop before embarking on a three-city roadshow around the country.

Supported by the Embassy of the Kingdom of Netherlands and sponsored by TNT Malaysia and outdoor media sponsor Katchi Group Sdn Bhd, WPP 11 brings together award-winning images by over 55 press photographers representing 23 different nationalities and is a much anticipated event by photo enthusiasts and pixmen of all genres the world over every year.

¡°For the Centre, it was an honour to again be the venue sponsor for such a prestigious international exhibition and to be able to give Kuala Lumpur residents and visitors the opportunity to see globally applauded work and images from many of the global events that shaped the world in 2010,¡± said Datuk Peter Brokenshire, General Manager, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

Each year, the World Press Photo Foundation, an independent, non-profit organisation based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, organises the World Press Photo Contest from which the winning images are exhibited in approximately 100 cities and 45 countries.? For WPP 11 alone, 5,500 photographers submitted over 108,000 images for the judging panel to narrow down to about 300 winning photographs, with 177 of those award-winning photographs displayed in WPP 11¡¯s world tour.
