Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre hosts CNY lunch for visitingmedia group
To shouts of ‘Loh Hei’ and trying to master their extra-long chopsticks and avoid tossing their raw fish (yee sang) salad on the table, eight Oman media representatives enthusiastically participated in this Chinese New Year tradition at a lunch hosted by the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (the Centre) during a recent familiarisation visit to the facility.
In Kuala Lumpur for a four-day tour of the city, the delegation’s visit to the Centre was to learn how Oman could benefit from the Centre which, in half a dozen years, has achieved tremendous progress in hosting global conventions and exhibitions and become a business tourism venue with which to be reckoned with in the region.
After the ‘tossing’ session, the delegates were individually served their yee sang on a creatively designed ice carved delicately-carved ice dragon platter, in honour of the Chinese Lunar Year of the Dragon which began on 23 January 2012. According to the Centre’s Executive Chef Richmond Lim, the Centre’s award winning ice carver took almost three hours to carve the ice for this special treat.
Joining the group to ‘toss’ to a healthy and prosperous year were the Centre’s General Manager, Datuk Peter Brokenshire, and Director of Sales and Marketing, Ms Angeline Lue. |
