Having a Wicked Time in Marina Bay Sands

Wednesday, 14 December 2011

As one of the leading gastronomical regions of the world, the toughest decision you¡¯ll ever have to make at Marina Bay Stands is selecting a restaurant to dine in.

Deciding to eat with a view today, I headed towards The Club, located on the fifty-seventh floor and directly across from the Skypark Pool, The Club is definitely the place to choose for any solo-diner.
As many other breakfast buffets it was equipped to cater people from all walks of life with fresh fruits, sausages, noodles, hash browns, various jams and cereals.

Choosing a carb filled breakfast yesterday, I decided today I would try-out some local fruit mixed with some fried favourites.

Breakfast was completely satisfying, with high recommendations that the next time you are in Singapore you take the time out to enjoy The Club¡¯s blueberry muffins. One word; YUMMMM.

As always breakfast came to an end and it was time to head back to the ArtScience Museum to experience the launch of a timeless exhibition; Cartier Time Art.

Having never worn or appreciated the concept of a watch, I never realised the large role Cartier played in the art of time-telling as well as the extensive history, development and influence of the industry on everyday life.

Dating as far back as 1874, every 159 piece in the exhibition told a ticking tale, from the influence of its colours right down to the evolution from the pocket watch to the wrist watch right through to the secrets behind the Mystery watches.

As the second destination to host the city, following from Zurich, the exhibition was custom designed and adjusted to cater to the local market.

As well as taking viewers back in time to where it all began, Museum guests were also given a glimpse into the direction Cartier is taking time-telling in the future.

Launching yesterday, the Museum will run over the Christmas period and is expected to leave Marina Bay Sands from 12 February next year.

Following a great tour was some amazing food, at Chinese seafood restaurant, Yu Cuisine.
Treating guests to some of the best crab and prawn in Singapore, it is a modern restaurant focused on transforming seafood into Cantonese delicacies.

One of two restaurants in Singapore, director Jun Low explained the key ingredient that completes the dining experience is the choice to use crab uncommon to the region, Chilli Crab.

For non-seafood eaters, the restaurant also caters to your needs with other options including vegetarian pasta, mushroom and spinach soup, smoked chicken and pita wrapped duck.

Heading back to Tower Three I was momentarily (one hour) distracted as Fendi and Chanel shouted my name.

The lure of Marina Bay Sands' great prices and the reminder of tax returns upon departure was overwhelming and within minutes I was walking out of the shopping complex with three new pairs of shoes and a pair of new Fendi glasses.

After spending half the amount of money the four items would normally cost in Australia, it was time to take on the Emerald Green City for the premier of Wicked.

Held at the theatre side of the resort, the sold-out show was phenomenal with an all Australian cast including Aussie legend, Bert Newton who did an amazing job as the Great and Powerful Wizard of Oz.

If you missed the show when it was touring down under it is definitely worth the trek to see it as it becomes ¡®Popular¡¯ in Singapore.

As the show came to a bitter-sweet ending so too did my evening.
