Lauded as an originator in Asia’s thriving spa and wellness industry, Fivelements Puri Ahimsa received top recognition as ‘Destination Spa of the Year’ at the prestigious AsiaSpa Awards held in Hong Kong on Nov. 17, 2011.

“With so many outstanding nominations at this year‘s ceremony we are humbled by this recognition,” said Chicco and Lahra Tatriele, co-founders of Fivelements, which was also nominated for:

The 7th annual ceremony also announced Bali as the winner for ‘Asian Spa Capital of the Year.’

Located on a swiftly flowing bend of the Ayung River in the lush highlands near the artist village of Ubud, Fivelements has been praised by spa professionals worldwide for its authentic approach to wellness, connecting its international guests to philosophies and values based on ancient traditions that emphasize healing.

“We built Fivelements with sustainable principles, a clear vision of learning to ‘love and respect life’ and a mission to facilitate ‘life transformation’ through highly personalized retreats for individuals and corporate groups from around the globe, which starts with what we refer to as ‘love in action,’” said Chicco Tatriele. “Our wellness and healing destination was conceived to connect people with their ‘authentic’ and innate qualities through integrative services in Balinese healing, living foods and sacred arts.”

Only months before receiving AsiaSpa’s most coveted award, Fivelements was voted Favorite Spa in Indonesia at the SpaFinder Readers’ Choice Awards. Headquartered in Manhattan, the respected global spa resource announced that Fivelements, Puri Ahimsa had also won the Category Awards for Mind, Body and Spirit , Environmental Practices, Getaway Spas and Boutique Hotels. The 2011 Awards were based on votes submitted worldwide at SpaFinder’s global consumer websites (including SpaFinder.com) and by readers of SpaFinder publications.

“It’s unprecedented for a relatively new spa, or should I say ‘retreat,’ to receive as many accolades and awards in their first years,” said Susie Ellis, President of SpaFinder USA. “And interesting that recognition is not just the top award but also nominations in categories that are becoming vital in this industry such as environmental practices, design, innovation and vegan cuisine.”

Keeping with its robust pace, Fivelements’ founders are currently eyeing four destinations for expansion. “We are carefully exploring the idea of opening retreats in several countries and key to this formula are cultures that share in authentic healing practices,” said Lahra Tatriele. “Bhutan, Peru, China and India are excellent examples of destinations that would fit well with this ideal.”

In harmony with the company’s core values and philosophies, Fivelements will launch its “phyto” essence spa collection in December 2011, a made-in-Bali line of handmade products containing organic and wild harvested ingredients. Working with Swiss-based Centre de Recherches Biocosmetique (CRB), its product line includes: essence, massage and bath oils, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body lotions, scrubs, facial tonic and balms.
