Brunei Tourism is increasing its presence in the Chinese travel market with a promotional road show at the Shanghai World Expo, which will showcase the Sultanate as an attractive holiday destination.

The Tourism Development Department is expected to visit Shanghai, Hangzhou and Ningbo together with national carrier Royal Brunei Airlines (RBA) and a group of hoteliers and tour operators from Brunei.

Last year almost 16,000 tourists from China arrived into Brunei, making the Chinese market the second largest for Brunei after Malaysia.

A statement from the tourism department said, "With the introduction of direct flights between Shanghai and Brunei by Royal Brunei Airlines (RBA), Brunei's presence with its National Pavilion at the Shanghai World Expo 2010 as well as the awareness and business connections created during the Brunei Tourism Week Roadshow in Shanghai, Hangzhou and Ningbo, these numbers are certain to grow in 2010 and beyond."

The roadshow, which ran for a week until July 2, has been conducted as part of the Brunei Tourism Week at the Shanghai World Expo 2010's Brunei Pavilion.
