Bali International Convention Centre to host 3 major events

Wednesday, March 11, 2009

Three big events are scheduled to be held at the Bali International Convention Centre during the second and third quarter of 2009.  First is the 42nd Annual Meeting of the Board of Governor of Asian Development Bank, which is scheduled from 2nd until 5th of May. Over 3.000 delegates are expected to attend this prestigious event making it the biggest ADB meeting ever held. Topics up for discussion on the meeting agenda include solutions to the current global financial crisis, climate change, and regional economic integration.
After the Annual Meeting of Asian Development Bank, the convention centre will play host to the 24th Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO) Congress on the 15th until 19th of May 2009. The APAO Congress is the most important gathering of Ophthalmologists within the Asia-Pacific region and organizers anticipate that 5,000 delegates will be in attendance. The main focus of this event will be a scientific program detailing the latest in research and technology. Approximately 500 international speakers have agreed to join this program. Furthermore, over 47 international, supranational and national organizations have indicated their support for the Congress.

The third event scheduled on the Bali International Convention Centre agenda is the 9th International Congress on AIDS in Asia and the Pacific that will take place from 9th until 13th of August 2009. This Congress will concentrate on empowering people and strengthening networks that reach across Asia and the Pacific and beyond to mobilize a holistic and effective response. This is based on the latest best practices and scientific evidence, to specific and cross-border challenges of the HIV pandemic faced by countries in the region today.
