Andrew Steele, general manager of Shangri-La’s Tanjung Aru Resort and Spa, Kota Kinabalu, is pleased to announce the appointments of Ewan Yap as director of engineering and Leonora Bartosis as director of rooms.

Mr. Yap will assume responsibility for the Engineering Department and will oversee all aspects of project development, co-ordination, management and monitoring of hardware, storage and quality.

Mr. Yap is an engineering graduate from Oklahoma State University and possesses a bachelor’s of science degree in electrical engineering. A graduate member of the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (GIEM), he possesses over 19 years of experience in research and development and has overseen several key projects throughout Sabah.

Ms. Bartosis will be responsible for Front Office, Housekeeping, and Laundry operations, including general administration, supervision, manning and preventive maintenance, and for ensuring the achievement of the guest service quality.

Ms. Bartosis possesses 18-years of experience in the hospitality industry. She began her career as a front desk room clerk. Over the course of her career, she has worked in positions such as front office service associate, front office service leader, front office duty manager and executive housekeeper in various Shangri-La hotels in Kuala Lumpur and Sabah.
