Jetstar Asia’s plans to fly to Toyko’s Haneda Airport have been thwarted after Singapore’s Air Traffic Rights Committee (ATRC) gave all the operation rights to Singapore Airlines. The low-cost carrier was planning to break into the long-haul market with the flights. SIA will now fly twice-daily flights between Singapore and Tokyo Haneda airport from October next year while Jetstar Asia flies none. While Narita is the main international airport serving Tokyo, new international services will be allowed to use Haneda after a fourth runway there opens for operations next year. |
