Garuda Indonesia plans $100 million expansion in 2010

Monday, 16 November 2009

Garuda Indonesia has confirmed that it will spend US$100 million in 2010 as part of its five-year expansion plan.

Under the expansion plan, Garuda Indonesia will increase its fleet from 67 to 116 aircraft by 2014, to serve 27 million passengers.

"We plan to spend $100 million in capital expenditure in 2010 to buy more planes as well as to fulfill Garuda's other operational expenditure," said Garuda finance director Eddy Purwanto told the media on Monday.

If it reaches this expenditure target, then it will be the third time the airline has spent $100 million in capital expenditure or more in one year. The airline also spent over $100 million on capital expenditure last year.

The 2010 proposed spending is part of the airlines ambitious five-year expansion program, which will turn Garuda Indonesia into the largest airline in the country.
