In a recent survey conducted by Conrad across all their properties looking into the habits of weddings held on their premises, they found that Japanese couples were the most indulgent. Conducted through Asia, the survey covered destinations including Tokyo, Singapore, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Bali and the Maldives. “On average, a Japanese couple spends US$260 per guest compared to US$140 in Hong Kong and US$75 in Singapore,” the survey revealed. On the other hand, this was balanced by the fact that Japanese couple tend to have smaller parties, with an average of 80 guests, compared to the 300-400 expected in Hong Kong or Singapore. ‘Destination Weddings’ are also on the rise, now with nearly every 1 in 6 first weddings held in long-haul destinations. From Conrad’s survey, they discovered in their specimen group, the Japanese were more likely to discover the more exotic locations of the Maldives and Bali.
Modern couples were also more likely to fund their own, more personalised wedding, which also considers the comfort of their guests. Responding to this, many Conrad properties now no longer have wedding ‘Menus’ as such, and offers specialists on-hand to design a wedding suited to the couple in question. |
